Line of Lode Miners Memorial

Line of Lode Miners Memorial is a tribute to the 800-900 miners who lost their lives in Broken Hill’s mines. Located on top of a hill looking out to the beautiful town of Broken Hill the Line of Lode Miners Memorial is a wonderful location capturing the history and beauty of the small town of Broken Hill. Walking through the cafe will take you out to the boardwalk then to the memorial of those miners who have passed away in mines in Broken Hill. Located nearby the massive park bench is another famous location in the town. There is also a lot of old mining equipment located at the top of the hill which you can get up close with.
The living desert

The Living Desert sanctuary contains 12 enormous sandstone carvings by amazing artists from around the globe. The Living Desert displays the remarkable beauty of the flora and fauna that the outback offers. You can follow along paths that twist through a peaceful landscape of great importance to the community’s Indigenous people and share a once in a lifetime experience with friends and family. The desert sanctuary offers a 2.2km educational walking trail where you will uncover unique Aboriginal culture, wildflowers like the rare Sturt Desert Peas, native plants, geological wonders, scenic viewpoints, quartz ridges and free-living fauna including Wallaroos and Red Kangaroos.
The historic town of Silverton

Silverton is a small town just 26km away from Broken Hill, the town was formed after the discovery of silver but later was abandoned after richer sliver was found in a nearby place which later became Broken Hill. Silverton is now a location where you will discover interesting historical stories and an abundance of Outback attractions. Must visit place in Silverton is Beyond 39 Dips, it is an art gallery and authentic outback handcraft shop.
Mundi Mundi Plains

Located just 5km from Silverton is Mundi Mundi Lookout, another stunning location with brilliant views and breathtaking wildlife. The famous Mundi Mundi Plains offers a magnificent environment for filming as a number of Australian movies have been filmed here, including the famous movie Mad Max 2. The Mad Max Museum is one of Silverton most visited attractions, the museum is a tribute to Mad Max 2 displaying a vast exhibition of props, original and replicas of vehicles, realistic characters and photos from the famous film.

You can fly to Broken Hill with Regional Express which flies from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and other major airports of Australia. Broken Hill Airport is located just 6km from the town center which makes an easy short trip by taxi services or by hiring a car from the facilities accessible at the airport.
